THE SALVATION ARMY
The Salvation Army, founded in London in 1865 by William and Catherine Booth is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Nearly 31 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless, and opportunities for underprivileged children. The Salvation Army serves those in need regardless of race, creed or cultural background. Day in and day out, The Salvation Army continues to provide critical life services and guidance, operating in more than 118 countries, 9,000 communities and 14,000 centers. 82 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to The Salvation Army services and programs.
