The Salvation Army's "Gateway of Hope, currently known as The Hospitality House, is one of only a handful of shelters in Tucson that can serve the urgent needs of Tucson’s homeless and help keep families together.
But our aging facility, originally built in the early 1960’s, was never designed to address the complex needs of families, especially children. Decades of use and wear have taken their toll on the “House” and it is far more cost effective today to replace the shelter now than to repair or renovate its existing buildings.
Please join us in our historic mission to provide shelter,
safety, and hope for the growing number of Tucson families
... men, women and children ... who may just need a
helping hand up to rebuild their shattered lives.
We have already raised $2 Million toward our goal of
building a new Shelter and Transitional Housing facility on
our existing property. Your financial contribution will help make it possible for The Salvation Army to rebuild and continue serving the community.
Together,
we can make a difference.
The “Gateway of Hope” project will enhance
our ability to provide:
•
Emergency Shelter for Families, Women & Men
•
Transitional Housing for Families, Women & Men
•
Kitchen, Dining Room & Laundry Rooms
•
Meeting Room, Muti-Purpose Room & Chapel
•
Counseling & Employment Services
•
Medical & Family Services
We measure the success of our efforts by the lives we
change and the number of people we help re-enter our
community as productive, employed, tax-paying citizens
who are now capable of supporting themselves and
their families.
We work hand-in-hand with many local non-profit groups and government agencies to deliver the most cost effective range of services possible. Our programs are unique and more comprehensive than those of
other agencies.
"We cannot ignore their cries for help."
In America today, an alarming number of people have lost their jobs, their homes ... and hopes for a better life.
Sadly, a growing number of families in our community are now homeless and are in desperate need of shelter
and a host of vital human social services.
We must remain forever vigilant.
