ADOPT-A-FAMILY
TUCSON
Each year, The Salvation Army helps families who are in crisis, enjoy a special Christmas holiday. Through the Adopt-A-Family program, groups, churches and organizations have  the opportunity to engage in a “hands-on” project to provide assistance to a select family of their choosing. By sponsoring a family, you too can help make the holidays truly blessed and spread cheer to others. All families have been adopted for the 2012 season.

This year, over 100 schools are participating in family referrals, allowing us to not only provide more needy children a chance of assistance but screening the level of need. Consequently, the need for community sponsors will continue to grow and be more rewarding for all parties involved!

How Corporate Sponsorship Works

To be an Adopt-A-Family sponsor, first designate a company representative who’s responsible for facilitating the details of your adoption.

Determine the number and size of families your group can commit to based on financial and resource requirements for the adoption size. Complete and return the sponsorship application to The Salvation Army before December.

Once you have received your family assignment, your group will be required to fulfill the sponsorship requirements of that family. This includes determining whether you will deliver the goods directly to the family or to our warehouse to have The Salvation Army make the delivery.

The History of
Adopt-A-Family

Along with the Angel Tree Program,  Adopt-A-Family was created to address the needs of low-income households -children and families during the holidays and  times of need.

One of the oldest and largest Christmas adoption programs in Pima County, Adopt-A-Family receives over 400 applications for assistance each Christmas. Two-thirds of these applications are now being provided through school referrals.

Many of the families applying for assistance are facing financial hardships and are unable to afford a Christmas dinner or new toys and warm clothing for their children. Some are single parent families with very low income and some are of large families where a parent has been laid off from their job.

The Adopt-A-Family program not only supplies needed resources to households in need, but it has also built a loyal base of sponsors.who make it possible!

Year after year, The Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family program offers the gifts of hope, encouragement and caring to those needing it most.

Join in the season of giving by becoming a Family Sponsor!
