ADOPT-A-FAMILY GUIDELINES for SPONSORS
MINIMUM GUIDELINES:
*$50.00 Food Certificate per Family (ex: Fry's, Bashas, Safeway, Wal-Mart, Albertson's, etc..)
*$50.00 worth of New Toys per Child ( Children 14 and older, clothing, electronics & hygiene items.)
(Please note that many sponsors will supplement the min. guidelines with canned food items, non-perishable foods, blankets, etc...)
Groups that wish to participate should 1.) Designate one Representative who is responsible for all the details of the adoption, 2.) Decide upon the number of families you can adopt- within budget & time commitment, 3.)Consider family size and 4.) Decide if and who in your group will deliver to the family or warehouse.
Sponsors need to complete application and return as quickly as possible (before Dec. 8 Deadline) as sponsors are assigned families based on requests on a first come, first serve basis, Requests for sponsorship after Dec. 8 may or may not be availble depending upon family availability. We will attempt to fill sponsor requests wherever possible.
Upon matching your closest request for a family(s), we will fax/mail you a copy of the application, map of warehouse or family delivery information and your ADF Representative contact info., etc. Before delivering your gifts, please make sure that all your boxes and bags are marked for the Family and delivered to the correct location (warehouse/family addres.)
For Sponsors who wish to deliver directly to the famly, a rewarding part of this program, please understand that 1.) Allthough we carefully screen our applicants, we cannot personally visit each family. If you deliver to a family that appears "well-off", please contact your ADF representative, who will investigate the case. 2.) However, please bear in mind that often the "well-off" appearance does not explain other crises in the family, such as job loss, medical problems, impending divorce, etc that has led them to need assistance.. 3.) If we determine that the family is attempting to deceive us, they will be dropped from the program. 4.)Please let us know immediately, of any "bad experience" with the family.
If a Family contacts you outside of your delivery or following the holidays to obtain additional assistance or items, please refer them to our Family Services programs. We provide year-round programs for basic needs and recommend that you do not provide assistance beyond your ADF commitment.
